Uponor’s Virsbo factory is carbon neutral.
The Virsbo plant, where PEX pipe has been produced since 1972, has reached carbon neutrality in its own operations. It is Uponor’s second carbon-neutral factory after Nastola in Finland.

How did they do it?
Reduce first, offset the rest.
- 01
Waste heat recovery
Heat from production warms the factory buildings.
- 02
Green electricity
The plant’s electricity comes from renewable sources.
- 03
Electric vehicle fleet
No fossil fuels in on-site transport.
- 04
Employee training
Sustainability is part of everyday work.
- 05
Offsetting remaining emissions
The part that cannot be reduced is offset with registered carbon removal based on trees and biochar.
